Harco W.F. Jellema Msc [tropical agronomist & soil scientist]
Harco Jellema was born in 1947 in The Hague, The Netherlands.
Academic education at Wageningen University the Netherlands as a tropical agronomist with specialization in tropical soil science and soil fertility (Ir.).
Started his career in West Africa in São Tomé e Principe, to set up an agricultural department for soil science and soil fertility which included a soil lab and several field experiments. After this project he took up a teaching career at "Van Hall Larenstein, University for applied Sciences” in 1981. First as lecturer tropical soil science and soil fertility and the last 10 years as a member of the management team. During these years he was sent out as a senior expert to Africa several times. He was supporting students for their final thesis and responsible for the program Tropical Agriculture. He finished in 2005 as deputy director and started as independent consultant. Since then he has visited a lot of countries in Africa and Latin America to advice agricultural projects, part taking from the beginning and selecting areas and also during the implementation of the project itself. He is a member of the International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS). |

Piet Looise Msc [agricultural economist]
Piet (Pieter in full) Looise was born 9 September 1943 in a village of the province of Zeeland, The Netherlands. He took his academic education from Wageningen University, the Netherlands, and majored in Farm Economics and Agricultural Extension. He spend 8 months in India for a research project on extension in two Intensive Agricultural District Projects (Ludhiana and Aligarh). He worked for three years as an assistent expert Farm Management and Agricultural Development with FAO in Tunisia and the Asian Region from Bangkok. He continued for another two years as an expert in the Asian Regional Team for Employment Promotion, an ILO project. Then he took up a teaching career with Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences on several economic subjects related to Agricultural Development. From 1998 his work as a lecturer took him to Sri Lanka, Mali, Tanzania, Thailand, Zambia, Ghana and Uganda. Recently he has been on missions to India and Kenya as a retired expert.

dr. Teun J.J.B. Wolters [economist]
was born on 23 October 1948 (Zaandam, The Netherlands). He has got an MSc and a PhD in economics (obtained at the Free University of Amsterdam). After his MSc studies, he was economics teacher at a secondary school in Sierra Leone (West Africa). He worked as a researcher and consultant in various knowledge institutes in the Netherlands, among which TNO and the National Bureau of Statistics. His work is laid down in various reports, books and academic articles. Teun Wolters was the founder of an international network for environmental and social accounting (EMAN). After being successful in a chain-based coffee project in Costa Rica, he founded (2000) and became the director of the Institute for Sustainable Commodities (active in The Netherlands, Ghana and Kenya), which focuses on sustainable chain management. At the moment he combines international development projects (through various organisations) with lecturing (among which sustainability accounting) and writing.
